An Idea For TV ads (Take back the word Liberal)

Sun Jul 10, 2005 at 05:15:53 PM PDT

One of the biggest turnoffs about the Democratic Party is the fact that "liberal" is considered a dirty word in American politics.  When people hear liberal they think of weak, indecisive, Hollywood elites, whose values are more in tune with Europe than Middle America.

What we need to do is exactly what Howard Dean has been saying to do:  Show what liberals really are.  Imagine a TV ad that shows monologs of average people talking about what it means to be a liberal.

A white guy with a southern accident talking about how liberals help the economy, and fight for average people.

A women talking about liberals standing up for education

A fire fighter describing how liberals are strong on defense.

A black women discussing liberals and voting rights.

A women talking about how liberals want to reduce the number of abortions with universal health care and reduction in poverty.

If we take back the word liberal, democrats will be immune to so many attacks republicans will be forced to rewrite their entire campaign playbook.  Democrats in all swing and red states will be able to stay on the offence twice as much, finally allowing the truth about the corruption of republicans to reach the public's ears.

If we ever expect to win, we need to show the republicans who we really are and stop hiding.  If republicans can make the words "George Bush" and "Bill Frist" sound desirable, surely "liberal" shouldn't be that difficult.

PS  Sorry to pimp this again, but my PAC needs money for billboards to use against Republicans.  Drop by at BillboardsForAmerica.com and check us out.
